Heat Pumps Offer Better Outlook on Utility Bills - 8/4/08
With energy costs on the rise, homeowners are looking for ways to offset higher bills. Heat pumps are one of the best options, as they are currently offering higher efficiencies than any heating and cooling system available today. Studies emphasize the potential for heat pumps, and manufacturers are offering more options for consumers.
The heat pump simply moves heat energy from one place to another, just like your refrigerator or air conditioner. The major difference is that air conditioners and refrigerators transfer heat in only one direction, while a heat pump can transfer heat in two directions, thereby heating or cooling the space. In cooling mode, it takes heat from indoors and transfers it to the outdoors through refrigerant lines. In the heating mode, the process is reversed. It's that simple!
Finally, ductwork must be installed in homes that do not have an existing air distribution system. If you have existing ductwork, heat pump systems will likely work, but you may have to do some minor modifications. This should be considered a secondary source of heat with a tremendous potential for huge savings during the winter months. Return on investment for this upgrade is only about three to five years. The life of the system is about twenty years, therefore you will receive a positive return on investment for a long time to come.
CARJON Becomes a HomeAdvice Certified Specialist - 6/13/08
We're pleased to announce completion of the rigorous Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) HomeAdvice™ Certification Program. As a HomeAdvice™ Certified Specialist, CARJON is uniquely qualified to help Rhode Island homeowners enjoy cleaner, healthier, more comfortable indoor air, as well as enjoy reduced energy bills.
To earn HomeAdvice Certification, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) professionals must demonstrate proficiency regarding whole home indoor air testing, diagnosis, and solutions. CARJON is proud to offer homeowners the high degree of confidence that the HomeAdvice Certification provides.
Testing your home's indoor air quality is simple. A CARJON service professional places a HomeAdvice® IAQ monitor – a very small, virtually silent unit – in your home. The monitor takes one air sample per minute over three to five days. This allows for continuous analysis through time, the most effective means of accurately pinpointing the nature and patterns of any indoor air quality (IAQ) problems that may be found. We analyze the results and deliver an easy-to-read HomeAdvice Report which describes any issues in health, comfort, safety, and energy, and offers recommendations for problems that may be found. For more information on getting an IAQ analysis, call us today at (401)232-9400!
